New Investigative Documentary ‘Undeliverable’ Examines Consumer Convenience and America’s Last-Mile Delivery Workforce
Boston Film Festival Selection Heads Next to San Diego International Film Festival as Filmmakers Launch National Publicity and Distribution Campaign
Every day, millions of Americans click “Buy Now” and an Amazon package arrives at their doorstep - sometimes within hours. But who really pays the price?”
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Investigative Documentary “Undeliverable: Prime Profits. Poor People.” Selected for Boston and San Diego International Film Festivals— Frank Licari
Feature Documentary Examines Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner Program and the People and Businesses Involved in Last-Mile Delivery
UNDELIVERABLE: PRIME PROFITS. POOR PEOPLE., a new investigative feature documentary from three-time Emmy-nominated filmmaker and television host Frank Licari, has been selected for the 2026 Boston Film Festival and the San Diego International Film Festival.
The documentary examines Amazon’s last-mile delivery network, with a particular focus on the company’s Delivery Service Partner, or DSP, program and the independently operated businesses and drivers involved in delivering packages from delivery stations to consumers.
The film incorporates firsthand accounts from current and former delivery drivers and DSP owners, along with interviews and perspectives from attorneys, journalists, academics, authors, labor representatives and industry experts.
Through these interviews, UNDELIVERABLE explores how the DSP model operates, the experiences of people who have participated in the program, and broader questions surrounding small-business ownership, employment, delivery operations and consumer expectations.
“Most of us recognize the Amazon-branded vehicles that arrive in our neighborhoods, but many consumers may not be familiar with the business structure behind those deliveries,” said Licari. “I began making this film because I wanted to better understand how the last-mile delivery system operates and hear directly from people who have worked within it.”
EXAMINING THE LAST MILE
Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner program works with independently operated delivery companies whose drivers complete the final portion of the delivery process.
UNDELIVERABLE examines that structure through interviews with individuals who have worked as DSP owners and delivery drivers. Participants discuss their experiences with delivery operations, performance expectations, business economics and the relationship between delivery companies and Amazon.
The documentary also includes commentary from professionals and observers who provide additional perspectives on issues related to delivery operations, employment, business ownership and the growth of e-commerce.
Licari said the project expanded during production to consider broader questions about how changes in consumer purchasing habits have affected the delivery industry.
“The growth of e-commerce has changed the way people shop and the way products reach consumers,” Licari said. “The film looks at one part of that process and gives people who have participated in the last-mile delivery system an opportunity to describe their experiences.”
